Bris-Story presents a Q&A panel discussion and cultural evening for Black History Month, exploring the music culture of 1980s Bristol and the African and Caribbean lineage that helped shape modern British culture.
Four contributors, each with lived experience or professional insight into one of Bristol’s most influential musical eras, come together to look at the communities and movements behind the city’s sound. The conversation will cover:
The cultural influence of African and African-Caribbean communities
The legacy of early Windrush settlers on Bristol’s music identity
The careers, movements and creative pathways shaped by this era
How these foundations continue to influence Bristol’s music scene today
