Radicle Radio Takeover for Diaspora Festival 2026

Aisha Campbell & T Chev from The Rise Collective’s Radicle Radio celebrate Diaspora Festival in collaboration with Diverse Artists Network on Ujima Radio!

Radicle Radio’s Aisha Campbell and guest T Chev took to the airwaves of Ujima Radio in celebration of  Diaspora Festival 2026, 100 events taking place all over the city of Bristol from 1st-10th May 2026. Aisha takes us on a deep dive into #diaspora2026, the Bristol-based festival celebrating cultural diversity through the arts, presented by the incredible @diverseartistsnetwork. This multi-venue, city-wide event has platformed more than 100 marginalised artists from global diaspora communities.

Radicle Radio takes its name from the part of a seed that anchors the root, helping the plant unfold, flourish and bloom. Hosts and producer Aisha trace the sparks of different musical genres and movements through the emotional, social and political undercurrents of their time.

You can listen to the entire programme using the link at the bottom of this page. In this special programme, @aishacampbell explores the roots of DIASPORA!, what it stands for, how it began, and what it means to Bristol and the wider southwest region.

A core part of this also includes the incredible project A LETTER TO BROADMEAD, an amazing collaboration of teams of young people, alongside  partners – including @shredenhams , @strange_brew_briz , @sparksbristol @ujimaradio_official and more – cooked up a huge array of events. The idea was to breathe life into the city centre. As the project progressed it was soon realised that giving young people opportunities and places to be was a key theme. This little part of Bristol, not known as the fanciest, but cool in its own way, received a big dollop of LOVE in the form of art, music and community all the way through April and the start of May.  Huge thank you to all involved and especially to Tara and all the team at Compass Presents that pulled it all together, it was a pilot project unlike anything ever seen before.  We broadcast for a whole month from our Pop Up studio in the Galleries Shopping Centre, Broadmead, nothing like this has ever been done before, a truly groundbreaking and pioneering project for radio!

A Love Letter to Broadmead couldnt of happened without support of  @bristolcouncil and was funded by the UK government through UK Shared Prosperity Fund, and funding from the West of England Mayoral Combined Authority.

Huge thanks to Aisha and T Chev, Radicle Radio, The Rise Collective, Compass Presents and the Diverse Artists Network for making this episode possible. It’s been great to work together on the festival and the show!

The amazing team of aspiring journalists from The Rise Collective have been out and about across the festival, to capture its spirit and vibe.
