A truly unique and original voice accompanied with musicianship and song-writing talent, establish omar_lyefook as a pioneer in British soul. A precursor to neo-soul and acid jazz movements, he outlasted the peak of these tags to continue to deliver his own inimitable brand of soul music.

Omar received an MBE in 2012 for services to the British Music Industry. The father of neo-soul has a career spanning over 3 decades, garnering wide respect within the worlds of soul, jazz, funk and R&B.

Every month Ujima Radio selects 10 of the very best tracks released in Bristol & Southwest which then get featured twice an hour across our Primetime Shows including The Rise Up Breakfast Show Mon-Friday 8-10am and The Cruising Show Mon-Friday 4-6pm and the Urban Grooves Playouts.

If you are an artist based in the Southwest you could have your track featured. All you have to do is send your track on MP3 making sure lyrics are clean and conscious, include a headshot of yourself, your social media tags and if you are successful we will let  you know.

The Bob Marley Beach in Jamaica is a sacred  and global heritage site that is under threat of being privatised along with many other places in Jamaica.  Ziggy speaks out about the importance of this beach, what it means to him and what it meant to his father.  Spearheaded by Bristolian, Rubba aka Norman Stephenson from Afi Dance a campaign is under way to highlight the importance of saving this Beach which was one of the first Rastafarian HQ’s in the world.
