August presents ‘Night Notes’ a Brand new residency!
Ujima Radio are honoured to have multi-genre singer, songwriter & producer join our lineup of talented specialist music DJ’s. Producing and presenting ‘Night Notes’, the design and aesthetics of her own musical cave, a new monthly specialist live show and residency at Ujima Radio.
‘Night Notes’ on Mondays 8-10pm for those late street lit nights 🥀
The show will be a borderless space for music across all spectrums inspired, rooted and influenced by music of black origin and sound system frequencies, representing both local and international talent.
A mix of music and chatting with artists, composers and producers.
Occasional ‘in-focus’ storytelling and a pollination of interviews / takeovers.
New features will include a ‘No Filter Session’ – an invitation to artists, composers and producers to submit their best work to include upcoming released or unreleased / exclusives.

‘Cinematic Soundscapes’ – a collection of music, selected by artists, composers, producers, for the nostalgic explorer.

Sharing the magic from 2-4pm on the 1st Saturday of every month, Ujima’s newest DJ has travelled the world for work and pleasure, Malcolm has curated for some of the world’s most prestigious events, clubs and festivals for over 4 decades from Glastonbury to St Paul’s Carnival to Dismaland to name just a few and these all are reflected in Malcolm’s eclectic, beautiful and bountiful knowledge of music. Malcolm is now the landlord at Bristol’s iconic Star & Garter in Montpelier, Bristol.
Velvet Magnetic *are* back with thier show ‘Velvet After Dark’ Fridays 12-2am.
Velvet Magnetic DJs SAZ and Els look at philosophical and spiritual ideas from around the world and celebrate the diversity and unity of humankind. They look at nature, myths and
stories and current inspirations; mixing eclectic music and conscious voices, with the
intention of decolonising and reframing narratives.

DJ Cola is originally from North London. Her love of music started from early childhood, she grew up listening to a range of genres. DJ Cola started DJ’ing in 2021 and decided to specialise in Dance music, as she recognised the lack of black female representation in the EDM music scene.DJ Cola is keen to represent the under represented.
